Amitabh Shah Founder and Chief Inspiration Officer

Amitabh Shah launched Yuva Unstoppable 14 years ago at a mere age of 23. After completing his MBA from Yale, he passed up a JPMorgan Banking Wall Street offer to work on the real streets of India. He decided to launch this volunteer movement after he discovered immense suffering experienced by his elderly 82-year-old nanny, Kamlaben, while she was abused by her son’s family. Amitabh gathered friends and began volunteering at homes for the elderly, slums and orphanages. Touched by the stories he came across every day and inspired by the enthusiasm of other young people to volunteer, he founded YUVA Unstoppable—to act as a catalyst in the development, improvement and growth of children. He learnt that there is a lot of goodness in this world and everyone wants to do something to help other so they simply do not know how to go about it. Amitabh truly believes in what gandhiji said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” There was a serious resistance for the first year from his friends and family. They asked, “Why do you want to start serving others so early? Why don’t you wait till you are 60 and when you are a billionaire or retired from a top company?” Amitabh did not give up though and, in fact, his family is his biggest cheer leader now.
Today, Yuva Unstoppable is India’s premier youth movement which has mobilized over 1,50,000 volunteers to benefit over 5,00,000 underprivileged children across 40 cities of India. They partner with 75 top institutes, like UNICEF, Google, United Way, KPMG, Deloitte, IBM, Coke, Reliance, Adani, etc. and have transformed over 700 government schools with better toilets, improved drinking water, scholarships and digital literacy. Actor Ashton Kutcher’s A-Plus Media and Chicken Soup for the Soul made a 4-minute short film about how Yuva empowers girls across India by improving toilets and education facilities in government schools. It was premiered at the Yale CEO Summit-2017 in NYC with CEOs of iconic companies, like Merck, Wells Fargo, Dunkin Donuts, Panera Bread, IBM, etc. Yuva Unstoppable also won the coveted IBM Impact Award for 2017 after improving their social media & corporate communications. In the past, prime minister Narendra Modiji, late president APJ Kalam, superstar Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, cricketers Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman & Sir Ian Botham, etc. have proactively participated in Yuva initiatives.
Amitabh is going to receive one of the most prestigious awards officially recognized by the US House of Representatives and Senate—International Ellis Island Award at the Statue of Liberty—in May 2019. Last year’s winner was the noble-prize winner Malala, while previous winners have been Bill Clinton, George Bush, Muhammad Ali, Rosa Parks, Richard Nixon, Lee Iococa, Mrs Indra Nooyi among other legends!
Amitabh was the Winner of the Prince’s Prize for Innovative Philanthropy 2015, conferred by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, wherein Jack Ma of Alibaba Group was a semi-finalist. He was the Executive President of The Times of India Foundation (largest English selling daily globally) & the Founding Chairman for Gujarat Chamber of Commerce’s Youth Wing. He is a celebrated inspirational speaker on kindness, gratitude & the power of self-belief and has been winning hearts of the audiences at Yale, Wharton, YPO-WPO Forums, United Way’s Million Dollar Round Table as well on at less-privileged government schools amongst others. Having renovated 700 government schools now in different parts of India, Amitabh is not going to stop until he builds 10,000 schools for the less privileged. He is all charged up to provide hope & dignity to millions of kids in India.
